For cigar aficionados, the Camacho brand is synonymous with “full”—as in full-bodied, full-flavored, and full of character. Their blends usually promise a powerful well-balanced smoke brimming with aromatic flavor. The Camacho Corojo Limited is no different, and by using their flagship brand and adding a new wrapper that is grown and aged longer than most we have one powerful cigar. You may have noticed the words “Quinto Corte” on the cigar band, which translates to “Fifth Priming”. Fifth priming is when the top-most leaves of the Corojo plant are picked last, therefore, it has more time in the sun and with other natural elements giving the leaves a complex, rich, and full flavor taste. The Camacho Corojo Limited has exactly that, using a fifth priming, rich, reddish-brown Honduran Corojo and is neatly packed full of Honduran long-leafs and bound with a Honduran binder. Once we fired this bad boy up, we noticed cedar, leather, hints of wood, a tea leaf finish, and of course the signature Camacho pepperness. Cigar Aficionado gave this cigar a rating of ‘91’ and our panel couldn’t stop talking about it. With that being said, we couldn’t wait to dive in and we were in pure bliss with our cognacs.

Honduras has been a tobacco growing and cigar manufacturing area for hundreds of years, but it was the Communist revolution in Cuba that really put Honduras on the map. In the 1960s, many Cuban cigar makers fled their homeland and arrived in Honduras to re-establish their way of life. The immigrants took advantage of the climate, soil, and geography, which were well-suited to tobacco growing, and began producing high quality cigars. The center of the Honduran cigar industry is the city of Danli and the nearby Jamastran Valley. The majority of the world’s pure Corojo tobacco is grown here, now that Cuba has stopped production of this iconic, spicy, and rich variety in favor of Corojo hybrids. Other important areas of Honduran cigar production include the Talanga Valley, Copan, and Trojes.
