Recently we celebrated our 30th Anniversary in July and we wanted to find a way to share our excitement with our Premium Cigar of the Month Club members, whose loyalty and enthusiasm make everything we do in this club possible. An exclusive, custom-made smoke seemed just the ticket. So, our panel set about smoking their way through countless cigar samples in order to come up with a cigar worthy of our 30th Anniversary. (In fact – we came up with two: one for our Original Premium Cigar Club members, and a second for our Rare Cigar Club members. We hope to have both in our online store by the time you’re reading this – while supplies last.) We couldn’t be more thrilled with the final result. It’s our pleasure to introduce the MonthlyClubs.com 30 Year Aniversario Connecticut Figurado, created by legendary cigar master Agustín García.

The MonthlyClubs.com 30 Year Aniversario Connecticut Figurado was blended by Agustín García as an amplified version of La Gloria Cubana’s 91-rated, Cigar Aficionado Top 25 Honored, Serie R Estelí. Hailing from Nicaragua, this massive figurado has a powerful blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers grown throughout Nicaragua’s three growing regions of Estelí, Condega and Jalapa, which is secured with a wrapper quality Cameroon leaf grown in Nicaragua and finally dressed in a dark and oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Powerful and rich in flavor, expect notes of dark tobacco, espresso, nuttiness and a surging spice with the wrapper providing notes of sweetness on the finish and hints of pepper on the retrohale. Despite its power, the smoke is balanced and smooth, offering a strength felt more in the belly than the head, like a good, hearty meal. Unique and satisfying, pair it with a bold red wine, such as The Language of Yes Rancho Réal Vineyard Syrah 2022.

The Nicaraguan cigar industry originated when Cuban cigar makers escaped the revolution and re-established their livelihood in Nicaragua with Cuban-seed tobacco. Blessed with dark, rich soil, their new home was ideal for tobacco cultivation and Nicaragua quickly became known for cigars that rivaled Cuban quality. Unfortunately, revolution and war came to Nicaragua in the 1980s and devastated the industry, but it’s rebounded dramatically and is once again producing tobacco considered by many to be the finest in the world.

The Esteli Valley is in many ways the heart of Nicaraguan production and is known for its very powerful and spicy tobacco. The Jalapa Valley produces arguably the finest tobacco in the country: somewhat sweeter and less intense than Esteli, but extremely complex. The tobacco of the Condega Valley is often described as a blend of the other two regions.
